The qualities which a Judge should possess were inherent and intrinsic in Justice Krishna Iyer i.e., courage, conviction, commitment, courtesy and integrity. Justice Iyer earned his reputation through his contributions which will always be remembered by generations to come. When Justice Krishna Iyer was appointed as a Judge of Supreme Court quite a few were unhappy. They believed that a person having socialistic philosophy should not be made a Judge much less a Judge of Supreme Court. However the same people had tears in their eyes when Justice Krishna Iyer retired. Justice Krishna Iyer was given a very warm, fond and affectionate farewell from the Bar and Bench on his retirement as a Judge of the Supreme Court. He has been a thinker and gave well reasoned judgments. He was courteous to not only members of Bar and Bench but to every single person who came in contact with him. He is known for having created his own dictionary in which new words and expression came very naturally. His new vocabulary was easy to understand because it came from his heart and was connected with his concept.
